kristin welker joins us live. we have witnessed the president bringing the house counsel at the correspondents dinner memorably mocking donald's trump but can he use his wit and wisdom with mitt romney literally sitting a few feet away? >> reporter: i think you will see both candidates have a little fun with tonight's dinner. of course, they are going to throw some barbs at each other, but i think they will be barbs of the playful sort. if you go back to 2008, you might remember john mccain made the joke about the fact that the only supporter he had in new york was hillary clinton, who happened to be in the audience. he got a big laugh line there. then senator obama made the joke that his name was swahili for that one, and if you remember, that one was what john mccain called him during one of the debates. what was interesting though, martin, at the end of the dinner, they both sort of pra e praiseed each other. it will be interesting to see how they wrap up their remarks. there are reports they don't even like ea
